My Review : BinRoye Episode 12 & 13

So finally, I took some time off from my busy schedule and managed to watch the 12th Episode ( I had missed it last week) and today’s current episode No. 13. Being the biggest fan of Mahira Khan on earth, I am now completely up-to-date with all the BinRoyeDrama episodes. For a change, I wanted to club the review of these two episodes in one.

Overall, both the episodes were quite intriguing and good. Like always, my favourite Mahira Khan successfully nailed it with her amazing performance in both these episodes. These two episodes focus on Saba’s newly married life with Safeer and how she is trying to tackle her inner demons, guilt and conflicts.

Episode – 12

Post marriage, Safeer being a loyal dutiful husband to his wife Sonia confesses to Saba about his first marriage and bluntly asks her to seek divorce and walk out of the marriage. On hearing Safeer’s story, Saba still agrees to carry on as his dutiful wife and keep Safeer’s first marriage a secret. Safeer continues to be indifferent towards Saba and moves to America to stay with his wife Sonia who is expecting another baby. This causes a lot of tension between Saba & Safeer’s married life. Meanwhile, Irtaza senses something fishy in Saba’s behaviour and tries to confide in Dadima, who in return terms everything baseless.

Episode – 13

The story continues, one year has past since Saba & Safeer got married. Safeer still has not returned to Pakistan post Sonia’s delivery of the second baby. Safeer refuses to leave Sonia and come back to Karachi. Due to Safeer’s long absence, Irtaza begins to suspect Saba of lying and confronts her.

The episode ends with a lot of suspense and curiosity.

Both these episodes portrayed Saba as the strong, level headed and matured woman who is trying hard to balance her life and fighting her inner battle. Safeer and Saba’s relationship track has been the highlight of these two episodes and I hope there is some kind of solution to Saba’s troubled marriage.

Due to frequent time jump, its difficult to gauge the actual time or days passed, nevertheless I love watching BinRoyeDrama only for Mahira Khan.

The promo of the next episode keeps me intrigued as Irtaza takes things in his own hands and gives a surprise to Safeer.

Please share of views and feedback.

Mahira Khan : Talent Personified

My favourite actor Mahira Khan turns a year older on Wednesday 21st December and I would like to wish her in advance a ‘Very Happy Birthday’ and a year full of happiness. The elegant beauty Mahira Khan needs no introduction. She is somebody who just needs to strike a smile and millions of hearts tend to skip a beat. Popularly known as the ‘Humsafar’ girl/ Khirad, the actress has time and again garnered good reviews from the audience and the critics. For her Birthday, I as her biggest fan would like to dedicate & write a blog about her.

Mahira Khan is largely seen as the best actress in the Pakistan industry and frankly speaking you can’t give such a title to anyone else.Pakistan film industry is currently going through a Golden Period and Mahira Khan is the symbol of this change. In fact, she owns it. At a very young age, Mahira already possesses what every actor would like to flaunt which is ”an impressive body of work.” Most actors still have not achieved so much.  Mahira Khan with just around 4 films & around 6 television dramas on her resume, has already established herself in a league of her own. That is quite an achievement. If she remains consistent, I am 100% sure she will, Mahira Khan will easily become the living legend of Pakistan Cinema. Easily. A lot of new female actors in Pakistan Cinema, are taking Mahira Khan as their icon & sharpening their talent.

When ever I watch Mahira Khan perform, she always stands out & becomes the character. Not for a moment you will feel like saying that Mahira Khan was performing. Given that her character in Binroye was by far the most challenging role in her career & she has nailed it successfully like always. Believe you me, You pick & watch any drama or a film of Mahira Khan, You will agree with me that she shines in every frame along with her magnetic screen presence. Since I can’t get my eyes off during all her performances, I am always eager to share my response about Mahira’s star performance on screen.

Mahira Khan is one of the fewest actresses in Pakistan who is known to overshadow her male co-stars. Mahira is always given the credit for her hits more than her male co-stars. Whether the film is a box office hit or not, Mahira is the one who shines through out.

How many of you remember the most impactful scene in BinRoye Drama ?? When Saba angrily curses Saman for taking away Irtaza from her. During that very scene, nobody on earth can reach out for their cell phone during those mesmerizing few minutes. I totally got glued to the scene and found myself staring into Mahira’s captivating eyes – I couldn’t meet them. I felt that pain intensely, that state of  jealously Saba felt. Such was the impact. Such was the performance. I leaned back & began to contemplate about it. Mahira being very versatile always manages to come out bigger than her films.

Mahira Khan is a classical beauty yet can be very contemporary. Her beauty is Evergreen. She can be very glamorous as well when needed.

I wonder if Mahira Khan herself is aware of  her acting prowess or her beauty? I hope not! coz it can lead to self-consciousness.She appears equally at ease in every character she portrays. I never fail to watch any movie or serial drama that features Mahira Khan.So would her millions of other fans. The only reason is: Mahira keeps it real. She makes her audiences believe and relate to all her characters. That’s a huge plus point in the world of movies. Humsafar’s Khirad has progressed to become ‘The Unstoppable Khan’. I always pray and hope that she sticks around long enough to win the Highest Achievement Award for her exceptional body of work and performances, someday in the future.( I would have presented her the Oscar).

According to me, Mahira Khan is on her way to win over the world.

My Review : Befikre

Prelude :

Frankly speaking, I am not a very big fan of Aditya Chopra the Director. So far I have only loved his debut film ‘ Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge & unfortunatleyI did not quite like his other directorial ventures.Mr Aditya Choprs’s reputation as a director rests exclusively on a film made 21 years ago. He is undoubtedly a good producer but I always found his directorial ventures eirther unreal or lacking in content. I had the same feeling for Befikr & din’t quite looked forward to watch it. Going by its trailer, Befikr visually talks about a youth centric new age romantic film filled with kisses lolz.( Btw Mr Pahlaj sir did not have any objection with the number of kisses it has)
But Neverthless an Aditya Chopra film does create a lot of hype & you are knowingly pushed towards a theatre near you to watch it.

Review :

Befikre opens with a string of smooches right from th first frame to the last frame of the opening credit roll. Various several characters are shown smooching on the streets of Paris with “Labon Ka Karobaar” playing in the background. Then we cut to a scene where Dharam (Ranveer Singh) and Shyra (Vaani Kapoor) are having a break up fight that leads to Shyra throwing a TV out of the window & ends with Dharam calling her a “French slut”.
Shrya leaves Dharam and the film now takes us back a year to show us their love story.

Synospsis :

Befikre is a story that talks about the carefree aspect in love. Delhi boy Dharam comes to Paris for work & also in search of some fun.He luckily bumps into a free spirited, french born Indian girl Shyra. This leads to a wild romance between the two in which both of them are tested to their limits. Battling their inner conflicts & up & downs. Both realize that love is hard & you need to be quite tough & daring from within to love someone.

Technical :

Most of the first half, Befikre goes back and forth in time, showing us the pair’s relationship development, and returning periodically to their not so happening present. You can’t help but notice that Befikre carries quite a bit of ‘Friends with Benefit’ hangover & also reminds you of ‘No strings Attached’.
In few parts, the film tends to become a little repetitive & doesn’t seem to progress much but trust me unlike other bollywood films, one does loses count of the kisses, just as it is impossible to say how many times Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor — lock lips through out the film.
Befikre is an unapologetic sexy romantic film…
Vaani Kapoor Official Ranveer Singh have a natural chemistry and during many of the film’s choreographed sequences, you will be pretty shocked to see how they move their torsos with so much of ease. And especially their dance sequences which will bring about a lot of sexual tension in you lolzz ( Now watch it at your own risk)

Befikre offers us with no surprise how it will end & the climax seems to be quite forced.

Cinematography by Kaname Onoyama was the best thing about the film capturing Paris in the best possible way. Music by Vishal & Shekhar was quite foot tapping & soothing especially the song “Nashe Si Chadh Gayi”and ‘Ude Dil Befikre ‘ are Chartbusters.

Ranveer Singh played himself. His character Dharam was crazy, fun, adventurous & very daring. By the way, after RahuL Bose, Ranveer Singh will go down in history as the second actor to pose completely butt naked. It is a very small shot, but easily noticeable.

Vaani Kapoor Official was absolutely apt for the character Shyra. she looked & fitted the part very convincingly. The actress shows enough skin through the film, often taking her top off and showing her stylish bra.

There was no supporting star cast or actors to give us any kind of visual break. A Ranveer Singh & Vaani Kapoor film all the way.

Verdict :

BefikreTheFilm is a fun film & thoroughly entertaining. A love story with a difference. I dare you to watch it at your own risk.

My Review : BinRoye Drama Episode 11

Frankly speaking, According to me, this episode of Bin Roye Drama was one of the best as it was far more emotionally overpowering along with powerful dialogues. The conversations between Saba and Irtiza were in full focus & I seriously felt sad for Irtaza as I could relate to his current state of mind. Like always, Mahira Khan is the only reason why I tune into Bin Roye every Sunday because Mahira’s flawless performance always keeps me hooked & makes me relate to Saba’s character even more.

Synopsis :

Dadi proposes the idea of Irtaza getting married to Saba. On hearing this, Saba angrilly denies the proposal & disagrees to get married to Irtaza. Safeer’s mother once again comes back with Safeer’s marriage proposal to Dadi ma & expresses her desire to get her son Safeer get marred to Saba. Surprisingly, Saba agrees to this proposal & decides to get married off to Safeer. On the other hand, Safeer is totally helpless hearing the news of his engagement to Saba as he doesn’t want to leave his wife & son. Safeer’s mother emotionally blackmails him & compels Safeer to say ‘Yes’to Saba. The drama ends with Saba getting ready for her engagement to Safeer & expressing her regret & sorrow regarding Saman’s death to her Dadima.

In this episode, Saba is stepping into the next phase of her life which brings about a lot of anxiety & curiosity in the future episodes. Will Safeer finally confide in Saba & tell her about his marriage ? What else might happen in Saba’s new phase of her life.

Raees Trailer : Mahira Khan steals the show.

“Ammi Jaan kehti thi koi dhanda chota nahi hota, aur dhanday se bara koi dharam nahi hota”,

The beginning line of the most awaited #RaeesTrailer keeps you totally hooked & wanting more & more.  It narrates SRK as the big unbeatable gangster of the black market, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a policeman whose only aim is to bring Raees down. Shah Rukh Khan is in his best form. He fearlessly crushes his opponents, smoothly fits in all the action sequences, he also romances with a lot of panache.raees-15

According to me, The best part of the trailer was our gorgeous very own Mahira Khan who plays SRK ‘s lady love.

The chemistry seems perfect from the very first sequence and gets better when Mahira playfully winks at SRK and very stylish says “Battery Sala”. We are then shown a series of scenes featuring Mahira and SRK getting intimate on screen, leaving us looking forward for more & more.

Apart from the amazing chemistry with SRK, our favourite Mahira is also seen wearing beautiful looking attires and mesmerizing the audience with her dance moves.

The trailer comes to a dramatic end showing a distressed Mahira Khan and a glimpse of Sunny Leone because a Bollywood movie is actually incomplete without an item song.

Overall, loved the trailer as it has gotten me excited and we hope the ban on Bollywood films ends before Raees comes out and we can watch my favourite Mahira Khan rule the silver screen alongside SRK.

My Review : BinRoye Episode 10

The expectations attached to Bin Roye were humongous, it was the most awaited drama serial of this year.  Bin Roye Drama series will take the Pakistani television drama to a whole new level. In tonight’s episode Mahira Khan nailed each and every scene in showcasing the emotional turmoil and guilt Saba felt. My favorite Mahira Khan’s acting made this episode the best so far.

In terms of  performances Mahira Khan is the best, Hamayun Saeed’s character is convincing and Zeba Bakhtiar and Armeena Rana Khan are quite wonderful in their respective roles. I will seriously miss Saman as I was slowly getting hooked to her character & loving her performances.

Synopsis : Like always, this episode had some major developments to its credit and some great emotional scenes as well, thanks to my favorite Mahira Khan & also Armeena Khan who were really good in this episode. This episode focuses on the fact that Saman comes to know about Saba’s love for Irtaza. Once they are back in India, Saman faces with a terrible accident & loses her life. Saba feels guilty & regrets the fact she angrily had cursed Saman long time ago. Finally, Dadi proposes the idea of getting Saba married to Irtaza.

The best thing about the scenes which revealed Saba’s feelings of regret was that they were short and to the point. There weren’t a lot of dialogues in this episode between the  Saba and Irtiza but the scenes between Irtaza & Saman were very sweet. After watching this episode and the preview of the next one I am still wondering what was the logic behind introducing Aamir’s  & Samir’s character and his entire track to the story

Overall, The best part of this episode was Mahira Khan and her powerful performance.

My Review : Kahani 2

Prelude :

Exactly 4 years ago, I had watched Kahani in Bangalore. Being quite aware of Mr Sujoy Ghosh’s body of work back then, I was not expecting much from the film..but it did surprise me as it became one of my favourite thriller films till date.
Frankly speaking, I was not expecting Mr Sujoy Ghost to come up with a sequel or to carry on with this franchise..but after the announcement of Kahani 2, I was quite looking forward to watch it & also curious to see whether he will be able to live up to the first installment.
After giving a power-packed performance in Kahaani, Vidya Balan is back with the sequel as the lead of the film.
The first poster look of Kahaani 2 was quite innovative as it showed Vidya aka Durga Rani Singh as a ‘wanted’ fugitive. In the glamourous world of Bollywood, I respect Vidya’s bold step to appear in the first look of the film sans make-up.

Plot :
Kahaani 2 is an entirely different film from 2012’s Kahaani, although it shares with that film its leading lady, a West Bengal setting, and a strong sense of mood The story revolves around Vidya Sinha (Vidya Balan) who wants to see her teenage daughter Mini, who is paralysed waist-downwards, walk again. But, the scenario is not very obvious as it seems? Or is Vidya an impersonator of Durga Rani Singh from Kalimpong, who is wanted for kidnapping and murder?

Technical :
Though Kahaani 2 gets to the point from the very start, the actual graph in the narrative ascends when Vidya’s individual search for her daughter takes a tragictwist, with the police department coming into picture.

The writing by Sujoy Ghosh & Suresh Nair is articulate and immaculate, investigating the matter gradually and building up the mystery at every step. The brisk storytelling calls for your absolute attention but the narrative has been so gripping since start that you never lose a moment. The story explores the case systematically, credibly and logically but fails to keep a tight grip on proceedings in the second half & ends up becoming a predictable film.
Post-interval, Kahaani 2 becomes a different film,with a very lame narrative.
The film might work only because of Vidya Balan who made both the characters mother & Durga the murderer believable.

To reveal more details is to let out spoilers in this mystery, but there are no intriguing script twists that you will roll your eyes at.

The film is once again shot on real locations, unfortunately this film could have been set in any other city, because Kolkata in this installment was not treated like a character like the first installment Kahaani.
The city does turn into warm and menacing, and the camera handled by Tapan Basu captures Kolkata with a lot of finesse that you’re instantly drawn to it. Namrata Rao dexterously edits the film, never letting the viewer stray for a second.

Performance :

Kahaani 2 essentially banks upon the prowess of Vidya Balan one of the most talented actresses of the times, who impresses us with every new film. She brings depth and poise to both her character Durga & vidya and adds conviction in every scene. She reveals once again that she can carry a film, even with no other recognizable star.
Arjun Rampal is impressive as Cop Indra Singh and makes for a good supporting character. Several other character artists like Jugal Hansraj lend adequate support.

Verdict :

Kahani 2 is not as good as the first installment but If you have an appetite for thrillers give this one a try.
