My Review : BinRoye Episode -5

This episode was quite heartbreaking for me & a tough watch. Being a loyal Mahira Khan fan, I was unable to watch my favorite actor cry. I was literally in tears watching Saba cry with a broken heart. In tonight’s episode especially watching Saba’s hopes being thrashed to the ground was definitely emotional.

I will not completely blame myself because this is the magic of Mahira Khan, she plays Saba so convincingly that when ever Saba end up crying along with her. Like always, Mahira Khan was the star of the show tonight without a doubt. Saba’s character and her track is the only reason why I will be tuning into Bin Roye next week.

In tonight’s episode, we begin with Safir’s (Junaid Khan) character, which was also introduced in the 4th Episode. He is his mother’s only son who works in the US and is romantically involved with a Hindu girl (Shazia Naz) & sharing the same apartment with her. Safir’s conversation with his girlfriend pretty much summed up that he is a complete Mama’s boy.

Then we cut to Saba’s emotional conversation with dadi where Saba literally pours her heart out & informs her Dadi that Saman is the perfect sister & She is not as half as good as Saman. This episode once again focused on the fact that Saba’s life literally revolved around Irtiza and she really did not like the fact Irtaza was falling in love with Saman.  Armeena Rana Khan’s dialogue delivery and overall performance is adding a lot of value to BinRoye.

Irtaza finally takes up the courage and proposes marriage to Saman, who in return accepts his proposal. Due to this Saba is deeply affected & tries her best to control her emotions. Dadi and Saba’s relationship has been utilized to the maximum, showing us beautifully the ‘dadi & grand daughter’ relationship. Humayun Saeed as Irtiza is at his best when he is with Saba. Hamayun Saeed and Mahira Khan’s chemistry with each other is definitely making their scenes work. Although Saba’s love is immature but you do relate to her feelings. End of this episode, Irtaza & Saman get engaged.

Overall, Bin Roye manages to hold your interest, there are moments which really tend to affect you. The best thing about this drama is that there are no antagonists. It only talks about normal everyday people who are caught up in situations beyond their control which will also determine the course of their relationships and their lives. The drama does have a lot of extraordinary performances to its credit.

Looking at the promo of the 6th episode, I seriously dreading having to watch the next episode as I don’t want to watch Saba cry.

How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Mahira Khan : A Winner all the way

If I have to describe or dedicate a song to my favorite actor Mahira Khan, it would be the famous Mohd Rafi song-

“Ye Chaand Saa Roshan Cheharaa, Julfon Kaa Rang Sunaharaa
Ye Zeel See Neelee Aankhe, Koee Raaj Hain In Mein Gaharaa
Taareef Karu Kyaa Us Kee, Jis Ne Tumhe Banaayaa”

Let me tell you why my favorite Mahira Khan totally deserves to win the forever diva crown.

Whatever Mahira Khan does, becomes iconic – be it her dance moves or the way she says ‘Uff’ or the way she performs. This talented actress is truly a diva in the real sense. Today, she is the most popular heroine not only in Pakistan but across the world.

This Pakistan beauty doesn’t grace the big screen often, but she surely knows how to rule our hearts like always. She may have become choosy when it comes to films but her popularity is still the same even on social media platforms. Yes, this Humsafar girl is super active on social networking sites and keeps interacting with her fans. From posting selfies to sharing pictures from her archives, Mahira knows how to rock it on social media. That’s not all! This superstar keeps sharing nice quotes & thoughts and that’s another big reason why she is such a big hit on Twitter and Facebook.

This automatically makes her immensely likable and relatable to the ordinary person who feels they can connect with her at any time. She paves the way for showing how to respond to trolls and having a thick skin which makes her even more popular on social media. Mahira balances her private & professional life with extreme poise and grace.

After all, every girl wants to become like her Isn’t? All over the world, Mahira Khan is motivational to many youngsters who are trying to find themselves and become famous as well.

Her rise in the last 6 years has been phenomenal. From being recognized on a global TV platform to winning a numerous of awards, being on the cover of ‘The World’s 50th sexiest Asian Women List’ & working opposite Mr Shahrukh Khan. Mahira Khan has left no stone unturned.

Mahira Khan is definitely on her way to ruling the world of entertainment and there seems to be no stopping her. The first few episodes of her new BinRoye Drama series is out and Mahira Khan has once again become the talking point all over the world. While the show is getting great reviews from the critics, it clearly shows that Mahira Khan is surely is making a mark like always. She’s being touted as the best thing about the show and we Mahirians really, really proud. She’s done what no other Pakistani celebrity could ever do – she has managed to step out and create a niche for herself in world entertainment. And not by  bagging the lead role in a Bollywood film like some of her contemporaries, but by actually doing some commendable work people are going to remember her for.

Mahira Khan has always earned respect for the effort she puts in to her work. The actor takes her work very seriously and her earnest performances are proof enough. No matter what role it is, Mahira Khan is always ready to go to any lengths to play her part right, and that’s exactly why she has always been respected in Film Industry. Can’t wait to watch her upcoming film ‘Verna’& ofcoz ‘Raees’. The woman is an over achiever, always has been. Ever since Humsafar, her career graph has only risen and how! She has stolen limelight wherever she has gone, and for all the right reasons. She is a fabulous actor and whether you’re a fan or not, there’s no denying that. She has won several prestigious award such as Lux Star Awards, Hum Awards, ARY Awards, Masala Awards, Femina Me Awards, Vogue Style Awards, Hum Style Awards etc.

‘Agar mera bas chalta..I would have awarded her the Oscar award’.

Her stunning personality is what earned her the title ‘The Unstoppable Khan’. And over the years, on screen and off screen, she’s only proved that she was born to be a star. There’s something about the way she carries herself that commands your attention. Be it her confidence, her impeccable style, her lady like elegance, or her inescapable charm, she always stands out in the crowd. Her mere presence blurs out the rest of the world.

Mahira Khan is the perfect example of ‘Beauty & Brains’ She is undoubtedly one of the most stunning women the world has ever seen. We’re not saying beauty is all that matters, but well, it definitely is awe-inspiring to see someone so perfect in every sphere of her personality.

Our Queen Mahira Khan recently attended the TEDxLahoreWomen where she shared her profound experiences as a woman in the South Asian Film Industry..A moment of pride for all of us.

This is not all, This year once again my favorite Mahira Khan along with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, visited various Girls college & raised awareness among girls about ‘Breast Cancer’. Isn’t it wonderful ?? How many Super stars actually take time off from their busy schedule for social work ?  Mahira khan does..because she is rare.

So, Now you know why my favorite Mahira Khan is ‘A Winner all the way’..She deserves a Salute!

Here’s wishing Mahira Khan all the success in the world. You go girl !

My Review : Shivaay

What do you do if your 9-year-old daughter flies to Bulgaria along with you and is kidnapped by sex traffickers within hours of arriving? Well, if you’re the fearless mountaineer Shivaay, you go get her—brutally dispatching every one of the interlopers involved. That’s the premise in Shivaay, ( A Desi take on Taken).

But let’s rewind the tape a bit.

Few college students join Shivaay (Ajay Devgn) for a mountaineering mission. Olga (Erika Kaar), a Bulgarian studying at the Delhi University, is one of them. Sizzling spark blooms between Olga and Shivaay. They fall in love buts unfortunately, things take an ugly turn when Olga becomes pregnant. Not ready to take so much responsibility, Olga conceives, leaves her daughter with Shivaay & flies back to Bulgaria.
And thus after years, Shivaay decides to visit Bulgaria with his 8 year old daughter Gaura (Abigail Eames),
The new country Bulgaria turns out to be more mysterious than what the father-daughter duo expected. And they unwillingly get caught in the web of lies, deceit & human trafficking..

Throughout the movie, Shivaay demonstrates deep devotion to his daughter Gaura—both before and after her abduction. We watch as he walks down the memory lane thinking about her. Knowing that she is the only hope in his life.
Shivaay’s ferocious love for his daughter compels him past every obstacle once she’s been abducted.

With help from the Indian Embassy (Saurabh Shukla & Sayesha Saigal), who informs Shivaay that Gaura’s kidnappers are likely a group of human traffickers working secretly in Bulgaria … and that he has about 96 hours to find her before she disappears into the black hole of sex slavery.

In the process, Shivaay focuses on the scourge of human trafficking, a ruthless underworld where even one innocent mistake condemns a girl to a life of drugged sex bondage.

Once Shivaay picks up his daughter’s trail, the ensuing violence is nonstop and intense, if not particularly gory. Shivaay takes down a slew of baddies with guns. Others get straight away knocked out.. He breaks the necks of quite a few by slamming their heads into various hard objects. Several scenes involve intense fist-and-foot combat flurries.

Technical :

Aseem Bajaj’s beautifully takes us through tunnels and snow-covered hills. With a little help from the CGI team, he successfully to an interesting journey on the snow capped mountains

First half is a bit slow, but the story picks up from Bulgaria..a dragged climax but a convincing one.

Shivaay deserves credit for showcasing the horrors of sex trafficking, a subject that has not been shown on an international level. It’s conceivable that some who see this film will be similarly moved.

But while Shivaays subject matter is all too real, the solution proffered here is pure Bollywood fantasy.

The film makes us believe that Shivaay’s killing spree in pursuit of his daughter Gaura is something more than mere vigilantism, focuses on a very important issue.

Mr Ajay Devgn has done a splendid job as the director.

Performances :

Ajay Devgn as Shivaay was superb & top notch. You will just love him on screen. The presence of Ajay Devgan in the lead role is a bonus, but surprisingly, not really the source of success.

New comer Sayesha Saigal looked beautiful but did not have much scope to showcase her acting skills. Erika Kaar & Abigail Eames were brilliant as debutants

Vir Das was amazing in a small role & special thanks to my friend Aakash Dabhade who doesn’t fail to impress you with his comic timings..great job bro-).

Mithoon ‘s soothing soulful music adds a lot of value to the d his music.

Verdict :

Overall, Shivaay Movie works for me..A formula movie though..but it did touch my heart. A must watch this Diwali. Strongly recommended.

My Review : Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

“Ek tarfa pyar ki taqat hi kuch aur hoti hai … auron ke rishton ki tarah yeh do logon mein nahi bat’ti … sirf mera haq hai ispe”.

“Mohabbat karna hamare bas mein nahi hai … us mohabbat se door chale jaana … woh hamare bas mein hai”.

“Ajeeb kahani hai pyar aur dosti ke rishtey ki … pyar hamara hero, dosti hamari heroine…blah blah & blah….

Conclusion : Headache..yes I am having a major head ache now after watching the film.

So finally, the most talked about, the most hyped, the most controversial Karan Johar flick Ae Dil Hai Muskil Movie finally releases today & I have managed to watch the ‘First Day First Show’ All I can say that I …”Yeh Film Mushkil se bhi hamari Dil Nahi chu payegi”-(-(

Review :

Lets begin with the positives, Like every Karan Johar film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is a beautiful looking film..right from the kitchen interiors to the living room walls, all looks so ‘Wow’.Cinematographer Anil Mehta has done a great job in putting in high level of of visual aesthetics. Plus, There is a wonderful synchronization connectivity between inner and outer beauty along with its good looking characters who are heard mouthing some beautiful poetry lines that seems too perfect & taken from a book.

Unfortunately, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil boils down to a mash-up of all those clichéd good looking films that are high on colour, beauty, budget but low on realism.

While Ranbir behaves like the guy, who is a mixture of ‘Barfi’, ‘Tamasha’,& will also remind you of the singer in ‘Rockstar’.
Well ! in Anushka’s case, she is the new avatar of Preity Zinta.

Plot :

Ayan and Alizeh, who meet at a party are naturally drawn towards each other & this transforms into a deep friendship.
The first 50 minutes both the characters just Ham,talk fast and live life king size.
Ayan wants to be a singer but Alizeh says his voice lacks the soul that comes only from experiencing heartbreak;(Reminds me of Rockstar)
While Alizeh treats Ayan as only her bestest buddy (Friendzoned concept) Ayan’s affection for her runs much deeper.
All of a sudden, enters Alizeh’s former love, her Tabahi Dj Ali (Fawad Khan)
Naturally, Ayan gets ditched mid way by Alizeh, who gets back to her former love.
After few years post Alizeh’s marriage,Aishwarya Rai Bachchan a poet enters Ayan’s life & develops a steamy no-strings-attached relationship with him.
Shah Rukh Khan makes a guest appearance and does what he did in Luck By Chance & imparts some gyan on love to Ayan.
Well the rest of the story is predictable, Saba ditches Ayan..Fawhad ditches Alizeh..the ending you can guess it ofcoz.

The problem with ADHM is that it completely fails to connect with you. The time the films gets into a full-on emotional mode, you are in no mood for tragedy or patiently wait for the movie to end.

In guess, After Kabhi Alvida..this is the worse Karan Johar film till date. ( I loved Student of the Year)

Performances :

Always a treat to watch, Ranbir Kapoor adds a lot of value to the character, he plays the lover, the singer, the dancer, the flirt, the funny guy with a lot of perfection. His chemistry works well with both the lead actresses.
Anushka Sharma is impressive as Alizeh, the woman who knows exactly what she wants from each of her relationships.
The chemistry between Ayan & Alizeh looks very fresh and authentic It will certainly remind you of your best friends.

The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is simply amazing & has given a well balanced performance.

Fawad Afzal Khan and Sharukh Khan have very little screenspace but they both are quite good on screen like always.

Verdict :

Overall, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil offers nothing new or fresh & fails to involme the audience emotionally or feel for the characters.
A one time watch…or give it a miss..its your call-)

Will watch Shivaay at night..hope it doesn’t cause destruction to my brain lolz

My Review : BinRoye Drama Episode 4

It is very difficult to review a show when your favorite actor is a part of it. I most of the time including today ended up watching the episode twice because during the first run I only stare & stare at my favorite Mahirah Khan because I just love the way she performs the character Saba. She is a very gifted & a fine actor.

Episode 4 was another well-paced episode of Bin Roye Drama, which was pretty clear cut & straight forward. Even though this episode did not progress much in terms of story but instead focused on the romantic chemistry between Saman & Irtaza. It was quite interesting to watch the sudden change in Saba’s character who is very possessive and stubborn & is unable to accept the fact Irtaza is getting drawn towards Saman.

Things will get worse for Saba in the next episode but that does not change the fact that Saba’s character is still lovable & sweet–  she is definitely not a negative person, she does know how to appreciate others which goes to show that she is not an insecure individual in general. Saba’s initial concern for Saman and the way she supported her clearly showed that she had a very loving and caring side to her personality.

Relationship between Armeena Khan and Humayun Saeed especially their romance was quite prominent in tonight’s episode. But nevertheless my favorite Mahira Khan hasn’t only done complete justice to her role but like always you look forward to Saba’s scenes because of her. Humayun Saeed’s overall personality is very well-suited for the character he is playing. Mr Humayun Saeed like always manages to be consistent as Irtiza who is a very responsible person & takes his duties seriously. Armeena Khan was quite good in this episode.

Saba can very clearly notice Irtaza’s fondness for Saman. Initially Saba tries to overlook but unfortunately she has to come to terms with reality that Irtaza is falling in love with Saman & only treats her like a good friend.

The first half and the second half more or less talks about the same thing & in gradual succession. The two scenes where Saba very rudely speaks to Saman clearly states the transformation in Saba’s character. Though Saba’s reaction didn’t come as a pleasant surprise to me because Saba is an impulsive & a childish young lady.

Saman has a lot of dialogues and it is actually working out well since Armeena Rana Khan’s is a good actor & her character Saman is progressing well. Saman and Irtiza’s growing interest in each other was also shown through many scenes & Saba getting quite jealous seeing them together. These scenes also suggested that a new chapter is about to begin in BinRoye Drama.

Overall, This was another effective episode of Bin Roye. Just like the other 3 episodes this also manages to hold your interest. I am waiting to find out & see more happenings in the life of Irtaza, Saba & Saman.

How many of you watched this latest installment of Bin Roye? Do share your thoughts about it.

My Review :Bin Roye Drama Episode 3

So, after watching the third episode tonight, I can only say that Binroye Drama is getting better & better with every episode & my favourite Mahira Khan is looking more beautiful in every frame in these episodes.

Episode 3 begins with, Irtiza coming back to Pakistan after finishing his studies and when dadi mentions that Irtiza should get married now, Saba very directly expresses her desire to marry Irtiza to her Dadi. Since no one in the house takes Saba seriously, naturally her dadi ignores her desire .This was an important scene in tonight’s episode & will be given importance as the show progresses.

The first half of this episode was quite entertaining & fun, Thanks to my favourite Mahira Khan, who always lights up the screen with her performance as Saba. But right after Saman enters the house, the scenes & pace begin to rush a little bit. Saman’s foster parents die in a plane crash which was headed to Germany and Irtaza brings her back to Pakistan. Saman is told about the big family secret that she is actually Saba’s elder sister, and she was given to her uncle and aunt as a child. Upon learning she has an elder sister, Saba is totally overjoyed and marks the perfect beginning to their relationship.

Saman does not have a lot of dialogues yet but Armeena Khan is quite convincing & doing a great job so far. In this episode, Saman and Irtiza’s growing interest in each other is also shown through brief scenes but is difficult to relate to the connection between the two just yet. The scenes between Saba and Irtiza are still the best & full of energy & fun. Saba’s interaction with her dadi and their dialogue scenes always make you laugh.

This was overall another interesting episode of Bin Roye which has added an interesting plot point to the story and has started a new phase. Things will of course change in the next episode where we show that Saba’s character cannot share Irtiza with anyone at all – My favourite Mahira Khan has once again done complete justice to her role & like always I am looking forward to Saba’s scenes only because of her. Humayun Saeed as Irtiza is convincing & good as always. Slowly & steadily, I am getting hooked to Armeena Khan’s performance…looking forward to see her more.

The characters  in Bin Roye  undoubtedly leaves a huge impact on you & manages to hold your interest. The preview of the next episode showed that Saba noticed Irtiza and Saman’s interest in one another.I can’t wait for next Sunday..

Friends please share your thoughts about it.

The Irreplaceable Khan – Mahira Khan

‘Actresses Will Come & Go..But For Us, Mahira Khan Will Always Be ‘The Irreplaceable Actor’

Has any film industry produced a more beautiful dancer, actor than Mahira Khan?            I think not because Mahira Khan can never be replaced.

So what do I say about the most beautiful woman in the world? What do I say about the most cutest smile ever? What do I say about the most fantastic actress ever? Whatever I say won´t be enough. All I am gonna say is: they will be nobody like her ever.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It is something you or anyone cannot help. You find yourself stupidly smiling every time Mahira Khan performs or smiles on screen. And that´s the kind of impact she has.

I repeat nobody, not a single actress can move, dance and express a scene the way Mahira Khan does.

What makes the likes of Mahira so special? Surely, there has to be more than just acting prowess and dancing acumen to rule the hearts of people all over the world and demand mind space even in her absence.

Mahira Khan, the woman of substance in Pakistan, finds one way or the other to inspire people every time. The Super Star, super Mom & an amazing human being  was recently listed in The ‘World’s 50 Sexiest Asian Women’ List few months ago. Well ! this news didn’t come as a surprise to anyone of us, coz our fav Mahira Khan deserves it & she is at her peak right now. Mahira Khan is out conquering the globe with her stellar performances and hit television shows.

Having bagged most of the best awards last year, life came full circle for Mahira Khan when she bagged yet not just one but two at the Lux Style Awards recently.
Incidentally, while ‘Binroye’ & ‘Ho Mann Jahaan’ emerged as one of the most successful films last year, Mahira Khan is undoubtedly ‘The Unstoppable Khan’

There are few sentences that can summarise Mahira Khan‘s contribution to Pakistani Cinema. While the public is still out to find their ideal hero ( Male Lead), there can be no debate about the lasting effect Mahira Khan‘s absence will have on the industry. There is hardly anyone who does not like Mahira Khan, the actress. Everybody Loves her.

Some actors rule our hearts with their performances, but most of them are replaced by others. Seldom do we come across characters that are embedded in our psyche to an extent where we find it extremely hard to accept anyone else in the same role. Mahira Khan is an actor who makes all her characters example – Khirad (Humsafar), Saba (BinRoye) etc convincing through her mind blowing performances. One has to agree that Mahira is magical. She is pure magic onscreen.

You know an actor is brilliant when you can sit through a movie/ television drama, just to see him/her perform. We Mahirians did it way too often and that was one of the major reasons why Mahira Khan became one of the top names of the Pakistan Industry today. You can never pic or chose Mahira Khan‘s best work, coz she is good in all of them. But then it’s never about the plot as much as it is about seeing our own favourite actor doing what ‘She does the best’ on screen.

All her Characters, be it Khirad to Saba to Manizeh etc are so famous that they tend to live with you even after so many years. That’s the power of Mahira Khan.

Mahira Khan is a flawless actress. She is a director’s actress. She can become exactly what the director wants. Take two films of her, Momina Duraids‘s Bin Roye and Asim Raza‘s Ho Mann Jahan. Can you see any similarity between the simple  Mahira of BinRoye with the Mahira of Ho Mann Jahan? No you can’t? Because the two directors had different demands. So Mahira had become two completely different characters. I am saying this from my own perspective.

I think we all are great fans of her acting and dancing. Even before I watched ‘Humsafar’, I was a fan of her post the movie ‘Bol’ and then for me to get a chance to meet her…it was a privilege. ‘She´s a Goddess’ I completely admire her. It was an honour meeting her in Mumbai at the Vogue Style Awards .
Trust me, in person, Mahira Khan is just as sweet. Positive and with an intelligence to match, Mahira Khan is every one’s idol and let’s hope she keeps on inspiring young minds, always.
She is the most perfect face for the screen…she will easily be the last female superstar of Pakistan.
There can never be a replacement for Mahira Khan..Never..
